Local health chief elected as parliamentary candidate

Dr Mark Hayes, the Chief Clinical Officer for health commissioning in the Vale of York has been selected by the Constituency Labour Party for Selby and Ainsty to be the Party’s candidate in the 2015 general election.

Dr Hayes said: “My interests in improving the local community are intrinsically linked to health and wellbeing and this has been a driving force in my desire to stand as a local candidate.

“My aim is to influence improvements in health and care services on a local and national scale and enhance the work and achievements of the CCG to date.

“Nothing has changed in my role as Chief Clinical Officer. I will continue to provide the strategic direction and performance guidance to the team and maintain close relationships with health and care providers, local government colleagues and other stakeholders.

“I am proud to have been selected to contest Selby and Ainsty for Labour at the next election and I will be working hard in the constituency, nevertheless I remain committed to delivering world class health and care commissioning in the Vale of York.”
