Vale of York nurses shortlisted for General Practice Nursing Awards

Nine nurses from the Vale of York area have been shortlisted for regional General Practice Nursing Awards 2018.

The Vale of York nurses are vying with colleagues from the Humber, Coast and Vale Sustainability Transformation Partnership (STP) area.

They will discover whether they have been victorious at an awards ceremony on Monday 5 March at the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel in Willerby, East Yorkshire.

Haxby Group’s Philippa Norman has been shortlisted for the Nurse of the Year Award, while Annette Fair from Priory Medical Group and Scott Road Medical Practice’s Linda Hoop are in the running for the People’s Choice Award.

Julie Cole (Priory Medical Group) and Lorraine Rankin (Haxby Group) have been shortlisted for the Healthcare Practitioner of the Year Award, while Polly Smith (York Medical Group) and Helen Raines (Haxby Group) are among those being considered for the Innovator of the Year Award.

They are joined by Lynne Gray (Millfield Surgery) and Rebecca Rhodes (Escrick Surgery) who are vying to be crowned Practice Mentor of the Year and Nurse Preceptor of the Year respectively.

Winners from Monday night’s awards ceremony will then compete with other victors from the wider Yorkshire and Humber region at a ceremony on Wednesday 21 March in York.

Michelle Carrington, NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Executive Director of Quality and Nursing, said: “It’s fantastic news that nine of our nurses from the Vale of York area have been shortlisted for General Practice Nursing Awards – a testament to their efforts to provide excellent care on a day-to-day basis.

“Everyone at the CCG has their fingers crossed that they’re victorious on Monday 5 March at the Humber, Coast and Vale award ceremony, and then again on Wednesday 21 March at the wider Yorkshire and Humber ceremony.”
