Children's Ambulatory Treatment Hub
Children's Ambulatory Treatment Hub - CAT Hub
Nimbuscare, York Hospital and VoY CCG are working together to provide a clinic for Primary Care follow-up review of children under 12 years old with respiratory illness and / or fever. This service is open to all Vale of York CCG GP practices. You can find full details of the service through the links below. The idea behind this is to provide a great service for these children, and their worried parents, to ease the pressure on primary care and to reduce the number of children who attend ED unnecessarily.
From 24th March the Hub is open from Monday to Friday 13:30- 19:30
Please note that the new telephone number for the Hub is 01904 943690
Documentation for the clinic is as follows:
The child must be over 12 weeks, we have had some children booked under 12 weeks and they tend to present with more severe symptoms and are more likely to need oxygen so we would prefer they are assessed promptly on the Child Assessment Unit at York Hospital if there are concerns.
Please refer children into the CAT Hub that fit the amber criteria following at least telephone triage by a clinician. We want to see children who need a higher level of support and require the longer appointments that we offer at the hub. Simple coughs and colds should be directed to CPCS. Please consider referral if there are concerns about:
- Increased work of breathing
- Reduced fluid intake and reduced urine output
- A first presentation of wheeze that needs support with using inhalers and observation of response
- High fever not settling with simple measures
- High level of parental concern
We want to ensure we are seeing children were having paediatric nurses and time to offer treatment, education and observation is required.
